Destiny Maggard turning 12 on Aug. 9

Big Cowan

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is well.

Went to a yard sale on Friday at the home of Joyce Adams Howard. Was good seeing her again. Last time I saw her was at a funeral visitation.

She sees my uncle, Isom Fields, when she and her husband go to Tennessee. She was asking about my aunt, Mary Ellen Blanken, and said she would like to talk to her.

Destiny Maggard will be 12 years old on Aug. 9. She is growing up so fast. She is the daughter of Carla and Tony Maggard. Happy birthday, Des, and have a fun-filled day.

My favorite sister, Kathy Dian Fields Wolfe, will be 59 on Aug. 12. She is married to Eddie Wolfe and has a son, Thomas Wolfe. Happy birthday, sis, and I love you. She is a former correspondent for The Mountain Eagle. Pretty soon you will be catching up with me in age. Ha, ha!

Pam Fields Taylor also has a birthday Aug. 12. Happy birthday and enjoy.

More birthdays last week were Diana Boggs Gilley and Daisy Banks Boggs. I hope you both had a good one. Both are my cousins.

Delmar Fields died two years ago on Aug. 14. He is still missed by family and friends.

Sierra Dollarhyde has a birthday Aug. 15. She is a daughter of Pam (Fields) Taylor and Marvin Taylor Jr., and Broy Dollarhyde. Happy birthday and enjoy your day.

My granddaughters started school Aug. 1, and are already not liking it. Imagine that. They just hate for summer to be over with. Sure do miss them.

Irene Day came out the other evening. She said she had been to see Hazel Rayburn and that Hazel was doing pretty well. Irene had a lot of trouble with arthritis in her neck, and Eugene has problems with his blood pressure dropping. Keep all of them in prayer.

My son Chad got cut down to four days a week at Cummins in Columbus, Ind. Hope work picks back up soon. Jobs are not doing so well right now in most places. Pray that those who have jobs keep them, and those who don’t can find one.

In October we will have another couple on Cowan getting married. Amber Trent and Brad Jackson will be getting married on Oct. 20. Congratulations to both of them. I heard from a little bird that they will be honeymooning in Savannah, Ga. I hope you both have a great beginning in your new life as a married couple, and may God bless both of you.

Well, time to be going. Have a good week, be good to yourself and one another. Go to the church of your choice and pray for someone this week. We all need prayer.
