DirecTV plans to hire about 100 people for a virtual call center in southwest Virginia.
Rep. Rick Boucher and DirecTV announced the new operation Tuesday.
Boucher says employees will work from their homes in the Christiansburg, Abingdon and Bluefi eld regions.
These “remote agents” will be paid an average $10 per hour, with an opportunity to earn an additional $650 per month based on performance.
Job fairs are scheduled April 6 at Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center in Lebanon and Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap. Job fairs also are scheduled April 7 at New River Valley Community College in Dublin and Bluefield State in Bluefield.
