Dixon Memorial Church holds memorial

Oooh — cold mornings lately. Makes you want to sleep late. We broke down and turned the heat on Sunday night.

The Dixon Memorial Church held its memorial for deceased members last Sunday with a fair crowd in attendance. Most of those names read off were from right in the Jeremiah community, and remembered by many of us.

Sorry about the mistake about Mary Jo Blair and Lillie Moss Hale. They are really supposed to be home this week. A little misinformation there, but that’s okay.

Belated birthday wishes to Doreen Calhoun, who had a birthday Monday, and to Adam Gilliam, who also had a birthday.

Dallas and Desi Banks and Lyndci, Joyce Adams and Lillie Moss Hale lost a sister-in-law, Anita Asher Campbell, who died last week. She was a daughter of the late Curt and Nora Asher and the widow of Carlos Campbell.

It was good to see ‘Hoot’ Danny Campbell feeling well enough to be out and about riding his motorcycle this past weekend.

Bob stopped in to check on Dorse and Gwen Fields last Sunday. Gwen is doing a lot better after having a very bad sick spell and hospital stay.

Those who haven’t been well lately and need prayers are Nancy Maggard of Isom, Terry Caudill, Bill Campbell, Vernon Cornett, Van Blair and Ellis Adams.

Ellis felt well enough to attend Big Cowan Church last Sunday. Jerry, Bonita, Tammy, Ellis and Ila all went together. It was that church’s memorial meeting, too.

Jerry and Bonita later met their daughter Lyndci, William and baby Sadie at Natural Bridge State Park for dinner. It was Lyndci’s birthday, and they enjoyed being together.

This weekend will be the Hiram and Ella Pridemore family reunion on Saturday.

The Mountain Heritage Festival is this week, and hopefully the weather can stay nice. Blackey Day is coming up soon.
