Dogs corner copperhead

Cowan

Hello. We are to the middle of July already. The summer is going by quickly and reminds me of being in grade school and wanting summer to last forever.

My brother’s dogs, Buddy and Lady, cornered another copperhead over the weekend. This was their second one that my brother has killed. The dogs are good at finding snakes.

Debbie and Jeff Vice of Flemingsburg and Ellen and Ryan White of Liberty were visiting on Kingdom Come. It was good seeing all of them.

Michael Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio, came in to visit his dad, John Campbell, for the week.

Myles Marr of Berea was in for a week. His grandfather is John Campbell. His great-grandfather is Glenn Brown of Whitesburg.

On Friday evening, all of us, Debbie and Jeff Vice, Ellen and Ryan White, John and Faye Campbell, Michael Campbell, Myles Marr, Mike and I went to Black Sheep Pizza for dinner. There was music along with the great pizza. It was nice having family time together.

Annie and Brad Dutton were at Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church on Sunday. It was good seeing them and listening to Brad. He delivered a positive message.

I received my official Medicare card on Thursday. I have to wait until November to use it but it was rather exciting to get it. I don’t look at getting older as something negative, it’s just a chance to experience more.

Molly Vice of Nashville, Tenn., and friends spent a week in Kenya. They enjoyed their time there and the pictures that I have seen were fabulous. It’s a beautiful place. Molly is the daughter of Debbie and Jeff Vice of Flemingsburg.

Tori, Rusty, Callie, and Ella Akers went to Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., for their vacation. They visited Southport and rode a ferry up Cape Fear River to Fort Fisher. Along with sightseeing they ate a lot of good seafood. They had a wonderful time.

Janet Napier, Caressa, Briley and Easton Brooks, Katie Caudill, and Ella Caudill are on a Disney cruise. The photos I have seen show they are having a good time.

Mashawna Gilley Caudill and children took a trip to Madeira Beach, Fla. They went with Mashawna’s parents, Bruce and Rita Gilley. Her brother Shawn, his children, his girlfriend, and her sister went also. I don’t have their names. They visited the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. There they saw Winter, the dolphin from the movie “Dolphin Tale”. Winter has a prosthetic tail. The photos that I saw were great and it looked like a lot of fun.

Faye Campbell is spending a few days visiting her daughter, Gretta Newsome. Gretta lives in Berea.

Carla Charles of Xenia, Ohio, has been in the hospital. She was released on Sunday. We’re sending positive thoughts to her that her health continues to improve.

Lorraine Stewart of Whitesburg has been in the hospital. She has been released. We’re sending positive thoughts to her that her health continues to improve.

The Social Media quote of the week is from Steven Aitchison: “Every single one of us has the potential to change someone’s life by just taking the time to listen to them.”

Have a wonderful week and stay positive.

Thanks.
