Donald G. “ Donnie” Sexton, 78, of Orange City, Fla., died June 27 at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/ Flagler Care Center in Orange City.
Born in Millstone, he was the widower of Jeanette Sexton and a brother of the late Frankie Sexton and Thelma Maggard.
Mr. Sexton was a professional jockey who had ridden in the Kentucky Derby and won many races, and was retired from the City of Orlando as a code inspector.
He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in DeBary, Fla.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Sexton and wife Katie of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Lynn Hinnard of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Randy “Tommy” Sexton and wife Carolene of Tennessee; a sister, Evelyn Dunnaway of Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Donovan Sexton, Kaitlyn Sexton and Kyle Hinnard.
