Donations sought to pay for boy’s liver transplant

Nine-year-old Connor Quillen of Cumberland is the recent recipient of a liver transplant.

Born February 4, 1999, Connor was diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome, and doctors at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio performed a live-saving liver transplant December 19. An estimated $45,000 is being raised by Cumberland volunteers to help pay for the transplant, with support from the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), a national charity which organizes and guides communities in raising funds for patients in need of a transplant.

Volunteers are needed to assist with fundraising activities. Individuals and groups interested in more information can contact campaign coordinator Matt Cope at (606) 589-2382 or mattcope@alltel.net.

Donations may be made at any BB&T Bank branch location using account number 0005101006885 or mailed to COTA at 2501 West COTA Dr., Bloomington, Ind. 47402. Checks or money orders should be made payable to COTA with “In Honor of Connor Quillen” written on the memo line. Secure credit card donations are also accepted online at www.COTAforConnorQ.com.

Connor is the son of Daniel and Jodie Quillen and the brother of Callie Quillen. His grandparents are Adair and Marie Hoskins and Peggy Quillen.
