Regina Donour, a science teacher at Letcher County Central High School, was named 2007 High School Science Teacher of the Year on November 2 at the Kentucky Science Teachers Association annual awards program in Lexington.
Donour received a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Alabama, a master of art degree in secondary education from Morehead State University and a master of science degree in natural science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has a National Board Certification in Adolescence and Young Adulthood Science.
Donour was named Kentucky Association of Environmental Education 2005 Kentucky Environmental Educator of the Year.
Donour, a LCCHS academic coach, is a adjunct chemistry professor at Southeast Community College. She is a member of the Teacher Advisory Board for the National Energy Education Development, the Management Team for the National Science Foundation, Kentucky Science Teachers Association, National Science Teachers Association, and the Kentucky Association of Environmental Educators.
She has 11 years of teaching experience in the Letcher County Schools.
