Doris Stallard, 85, made Christmas dresses for needy

Funeral services were to be held at Polly & Craft Funeral Home in Jenkins today (Wednesday) for Doris Ilene Stallard, 85. Burial was to follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

Mrs. Stallard, a native of Cromona, died December 1 at her home in the Laurels of Norton in Virginia. Born to the late Henry Clayton and Rebecca Brewer Anderson, she was the widow of Charles D. Stallard.

Mrs. Stallard was a member of the Jenkins First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed quilting and made dresses for needy children through the ministry of Operation Christmas Child.

Surviving are a son, Charles D. Stallard II, of Glendale, Calif.; a daughter, Sharra Kegan and husband Ross of Dryden, Va.; two grandchildren, Lauren Catherine Kegan of Lexington and Jonathon Kegan and Jordan of Mint Hill, N.C.; a brother, Huey Anderson and wife Peggy of Huntsville, Ala.; and a sisterin law, Nagatha Anderson of Burdine. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Oak Grove Baptist Church at 14th East 11th St., North, Big Stone Gap, Va. 24219, for Operation Christmas Child.
