Dover Cornett dies

Funeral services for Dover Cornett, 86, of Richmond, were set for 11:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Born in Linefork, Cornett was a son of the late Henry T. and Cassie Campbell Cornett.

He was a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. Cornett served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam era. Cornett was a retired teacher who taught in the Clark and Madison County school systems. He served as the director of the madison County Vocational School.

Cornett was a member of the VFW and the NRA, as well as a member of the North American Hunting Club. He initiated and served as president of the Richmond Little League in 1961. Cornett was a member of the Salem Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine; two sons, Stanley N. Cornett, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Doug Cornett and wife Laura, Richmond; a brother, Troy Cornett, Richmond; five grandchildren; Jason D., Kyle G., Kristen M., Meghan M., and Brent D. Cornett; and a great-granddaughter, Emory K. Cornett.

Donations are suggested to be made to the Baptistery Fund for the Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, Ky 40475.
