Dr. Sizemore dies at home



A longtime Whitesburg optometrist died July 1 at his residence in Isom.

Dr. William Dwayne Sizemore died of a blood clot, said Letcher County Coroner Perry Fowler.

Born in Hazard, he was a son of the late Walter Raleigh and Hallie Davidson Sizemore.

Funeral services for Sizemore were held Monday at First Baptist Church in Whitesburg. Burial followed in the Davidson and Sizemore cemetery in Hyden.

Sizemore, 62, was an optometrist for 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Whitesburg and dedicated years of service to the Gideon ministry.

Sizemore enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Sue Akers Sizemore, of Isom; two daughters,

Samantha (Seth) Gover and Alexandra (Ben) Steury, both of Lexington; his mother-in-law, Barbara Akers, of Scuddy; two brothers, George (Brenda) Sizemore, of London, and Sonny (Elizabeth) Sizemore, of Lexington; and two sisters, Jenni (Allen) Roberts, of Manchester, and Malissa Ann (Terry) Bowling of Hyden.
