Drug suspects indicted



The Letcher County Grand Jury named nine people on drug charges in indictments reported out September 23. Many of those indicted were included in a roundup of alleged drug offenders that occurred in April. Those indicted are:

• Verlin Ray Short, 43, of 49 Cleo Loop, Mayking, also known as “Snake Man”, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. The grand jury says he sold six dosage units of Percocet and five dosage units of Oxycodone in two separate transactions on April 24, 2012 to a to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East.

• Oscar Daniel Craft — trafficking in a controlled substance (first degree), two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (second degree) and being a persistent felony offender.

Craft, 59, of 186 Elaine Drive, Mayking, is charged with selling less than 10 dosage units of methadone, less than 20 dosage units of Suboxone, and less than 20 dosage units of hydrocodone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on January 14.

• Homer Jackson Smallwood III — trafficking in a controlled substance (second degree) and being a persistent felony offender.

The grand jury says Smallwood, 37, of 309 Hogg Hollow, Neon, also known as Jackie Smallwood, sold less than 20 dosage units of Suboxone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on January 16.

• Steven Michael Waddell — trafficking in a controlled substance.

Waddell, 46, of 444 Cleo Loop, Mayking, is accused of selling 20 or more dosage units of hydrocodone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on February 14, 2013.

• Hubert Brock Jr. — traffi cking in a controlled substance (second degree).

Brock, 28, of 354 Pert Creek, Whitesburg, also known as Hubie Brock, is charged with selling less than 20 dosage units of hydrocodone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on June 15, 2012.

• William Lee Adams — criminal complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance (second degree).

Adams, 46, of 340 Red Oak Road, Mayking, is charged with acting with Cynthia Adams in selling less than 20 dosage units of Suboxone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on February 14, 2013.

• Cynthia Gail Adams — criminal complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance (second degree).

Adams, 40, of 340 Red Oak Road, Mayking, is charged with acting with William Adams in selling less than 20 dosage units of Suboxone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on February 14, 2013.

• Johnny Coomer — criminal complicity to traffi cking in a controlled substance (second degree).

Coomer, 57, of 223 Harrison Branch, Isom, is charged with acting with Angel L. Coomer in selling less than 20 dosage units of hydrocodone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on July 24, 2012.

• Angel Lynn Coomer — criminal complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance (second degree).

Coomer, 52, of 223 Harrison Branch, Isom, is charged with acting with Johnny Coomer in selling less than 20 dosage units of hydrocodone to a cooperating witness of the Kentucky State Police DESI East on July 24, 2012.
