Commencement exercises held at Dunham Colored School

The Dunham Colored School held its Fourteenth Annual Commencement Exercises Wednesday, May 19, 1948, at the Dunham High School Auditorium with Principal G. W. Parks presiding.

The Commencement Address was presented by Dr. A.B. Atwood, President of Kentucky State College, Frankfort, Kentucky. Music of the evening was Listen to the Lambs and I Love Life. Mr. Carl Fitzpatrick, Chairman of the Board of Education, presented the Diplomas to six graduating students.

Senior Awards were as follows:

Valedictorian – Mildred Clauzell Collier

Salutatorian – Charles Edward Davis

Presentation of the American Legion and Citizenship Awards by Post Commander Alfonso Moore was as follows:

Eighth Grade Girl – Laura Richerson

Eighth Grade Boy – Freddie Clifton

Twelfth Grade Student – Mildred Collier

The Masonic Award was presented to a fourth grade student, Earnest Joe Hudson, while the Seventh and Eighth Grade Poetical Contest winner was Mildred Letridge.
