Dylan Halcomb falls asleep at his birthday party


My mom, Jean, went up a few weeks ago and visited with Louise Dixon. She was doing well. She had been in the hospital recently. They enjoyed talking about old times on Elk Creek.

Happy birthday to Geraldine Blair of Elk Creek. It was on Oct. 23.

Dylan Halcomb of Elk Creek, had his first birthday party at the Blackey Senior Citizens building on Oct. 26. He had a lot of family and friends there. He got tired and fell asleep. He is the son of Preston Halcomb and Jatana Griffie. She is having a baby girl, which is due in December. Dylan is the grandson of Fawn Jent and the late Terrel Griffie and Preston “Rabbit” Halcomb, and the greatgrandson of Truman and Lucille Jent of Carcassonne and Imogene “Ma” Griffie Caudill of Linefork.

Happy birthday to Devin Maggard of Carcassonne. He turned eight on Nov. 1. He is the son of James and Sheila Maggard.

On Oct. 27, B.J. and Shanna Adams of Carcassonne, along with Beau Shelly and Chloe Smith of Letcher, all went to Virginia and went through a corn maze and a haunted forest. B.J and Shanna go about every year before Halloween.

Myself, my son Justin, my sister Debbie Fugate and her son Gary went to Johnson City, Tenn., to the mall. We did some Christmas shopping. It’s a nice ride over there this time of year with the trees changing.

Happy birthday to my niece, Ashlee Morgan of Isom, who will be 18 on Nov. 4, and to her dad, Randy. His is on Nov. 11.

Don’t forget about the rock ‘n’ roll show that will be held in Whitesburg on Nov. 10. There will be eight hours of music, and several bands will be competing. It’s called Battle Royal. All of the profits will go to the American Cancer Society. If you need more information, you can call Joni Dixon at 633-4502.

The Doermann Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blackey will be having a fall yard sale in their basement on Saturday, Nov. 10, beginning at 9 a.m. There will be some great bargains so don’t miss out on this sale.

Happy birthday to Caleb Blake Madden of Crases Branch. He will be two on Nov. 8. He is the son of Tim and Donella Madden and has two older sisters, Summer Starr and Autumn Skyy. He had a Thomas the Train party at home.

I talked to Lola Mae Richardson Friday and she said Richard Wright of Indiana had surgery. He had to have some of his colon removed because of cancer, and he also has lung cancer. He is the sister of Linda Collie of Jeremiah.

Bruce. Rita and Shawn Gilley of Letcher, went to Covington on Saturday to spend the night because Bruce was preaching at a church down there on Sunday morning, They came back Sunday evening.
