Earl is enjoying his new little dog

North Carolina

Hope each mom had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Mine was at home working in the flower gardens. I had a dozen roses come while in the garden, from Terrance and Chanel and children.

We here in the Carolinas are having a cloudy, hot day. We could use rain on our gardens. Pete has a big garden in back and on the side of the house. My pastor’s brother has harvested his first garden and is planting his second one.

I was very pleased to get a nice letter from Emma Engle. Hi to you and Red.

Pete, Sis Violet and I had our first cottage meeting after church services. I went quite well.

My brother, Earl, is enjoying his new little dog Sissy that I gave him. I also gave him Missy. The two keep him busy. He loves dogs as I do.

Hi to my brother, Vernon, there in Partridge, and baby ducks.

I sure hated to hear of Mable Jenkins there in Partridge dying. She was a beautiful lady and a worker. My condolences to Jerry and family. She is one mom that will be missed.

As persons of the week I chose my daughter-in-law, Chanel Simpson, and little Miss Alizah Simpson. Alizah was in her second performance last Saturday; her first was as an infant in “Moses.” It was a motherdaughter performance. Chanel is a professional ballet teacher in Raleigh, N.C. Alizah, of course, takes ballet from Mom. Chanel put this play on, “Through the Garden Gate”, at Broadway Elementary auditorium in Broadway N.C. In the first act, Alizah was in “Bumblebees.” In the second act, she did double acting, all ballet. Chanel was a bluebird in the second act. Alizah was so cute. She did her steps with the music. After the play outside, a tomboy. We went to a Chinese restaurant and I had my first fried green beans. Ugh. It was an enjoyable day.

Hi to Sister Mary Lou White here in Winnabow.

This was submitted by Sister Ellen Nance, Lighthouse Pentecostal Apostolic.

“J.E.S.U.S. In chemistry, He turned water into wine. In biology, He was born with the normal conception. In physics, he disproved the law of gravity when He ascended into heaven. In economics, he disproved the law of diminishing returns by feeding 5,000 men with two fish and five loaves of bread. In medicine, He healed the sick, blind, lame, deaf, dumb, and raised the dead. In history, He is the beginning and the end. In government, He said that He shall be called wonderful, counselor, prince of peace. In religion, He said no one comes to the Father except through Him.”

Jesus had no servants, yet they called him master. He had no degree, yet they called Him teacher. He had no medicine, yet they called him the great physician. He had no armies, yet rulers feared Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. I feel honored to serve such a leader who loves us. Join us and let’s celebrate Him. He is worthy.

God’s blessings on all. Gladys and Pete Smith and critters.
