Earnest Maggard dies in Florida

Funeral services for Earnest Maggard, 95, of Florida, were held March 14 in Whitesburg. Burial was in the Maggard Cemetery in Isom.

Born in Sackett to the late Jesse Randall and Lydia Collins Maggard, he died March 9 at the Sun City Center Hospice in Sun City Center, Fla.

He was the widower of Roberta Mae Bentley; a brother of the late Herb Maggard, Bill Maggard, Jim Maggard, Jesse Randall Maggard Jr., Viola Caudill, Ruth Rowland, Irene Maggard, Mary Rose Adams, and Iva Lou Franklin, and a brother-in-law of Denver Collins.

Mr. Maggard served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the Whitesburg VFW Post 5829 and the Lonesome Pine Masonic Lodge #884.

He was a member of the Whitesburg American Legion Post #152, and enjoyed wood crafting and carving.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Lynn Maggard of Springfield, Oh.; a sister, Nancy Collins of Isom; a sister-in-law, Peggy Maggard of Isom; and a brother in-law, Tandy Adams of Connersville.
