East KY Tyme appears at Friday bluegrass show

The Hemphill Community Center would like to thank all our friends who come out for Friday night bluegrass. Without your support we couldn’t make bluegrass Fridays happen. The featured band for Friday Nite Bluegrass on April 18 was East KY Tyme. We’d like to say a great big thank you to Astor Taylor and East KY Tyme for helping to support our community center. Thanks, guys.

Earle Bone joined East KY Tyme on-stage and treated the crowd to several great songs. Later in the evening Austin Johnson took the stage with Astor and the boys.

The featured band for April 25 will be The Kentucky Red Band. Frances Johnson will also be celebrating her birthday, so come on out for a great night of music and fun.

We want to remind everyone that East KY Tyme will be pickin’ and grinnin’ for us again on May 2, and on the 9th we have The Bluegrass Wranglers. For more information about our Friday Night Bluegrass, please call Roy Johnson at 855-4578, Mark Spangler at 855-4683, or Red Roberts at 855-4396.

Miss Mabel and Miss Teresa would like to invite all the children in the area to the movie at the Center on Saturday evenings at 6 p.m. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for the movie and concessions will be available.

Thanks to Derek Barto of Parks and Recreation, the Letcher County Fiscal Court, and Bob Balthis, we now have a beautiful picnic shelter. To reserve the building and shelter for your party or reunion, please contact Starla Hampton at 606- 855-4191.
