Easter bunny needs helpers at Hemphill

All the folks at the Hemphill Community Center would like to thank everyone who came out to support our breakfast with the Easter bunny on March 15. We loved having you all visit our center and letting us share a special day with you and your children. Y’all come on back to see us again. The board and council members want thank Gwen Johnson from Fleming, and Margie Johnson from Pike County, for all the hard work they did in the kitchen.

The egg hunt followed the breakfast and we want to thank Miss Tabitha Fox for helping the Easter bunny out this year. He was so busy he had to have helpers, and Tabitha worked very hard. Thank you, Tabby. We love you. Of course Ms. E. Bunny had to have some help as well. We want to say a great big thank you to all the youth and parents who helped get all the eggs hidden, and the donations for some of our special eggs. We would also like to thank Frances Johnson from Pike County for her donations of prizes. Thanks to her generosity, three children won filled baskets and three won animal baskets.

We had Rambling Grass on Friday night for our bluegrass show/dance and they did a fantastic job. It was good to see and hear Little Debbie and her daughter, Skyanna, with the band. Mark Spangler’s family surprised him with a birthday cake, and the band sang “Happy Birthday” to Mark and to Astor Taylor, whose birthday was March 17. Happy birthday, guys. Astor and East KY Tyme will be playing for us at the center on March 21, so come on out and have a good time and some good food. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. For information about the bluegrass, please call Red Roberts at 855- 4396, Roy Johnson at 855-4578 or Mark Spangler at 855-4683.

Our picnic shelter and outdoor lighting at our entryway was finished last week, and we would like to say thank you to Bob Bothas and his crew for doing such a great job for us.

We are getting a lot of bookings for parties and reunions, so if you plan to use the center get your event booked soon. You can book the center by calling Starla Hampton at 606-855-4191.

Miss Mable and Miss Teresa also want to remind everyone about the Saturday night movie. The movie is free to the public and children must be accompanied by an adult. The movie starts at 6 p.m. Concessions will be available.

Have a great week, and we hope to see you on Friday night.
