Eastern Ky residents pack shoe box gifts for children worldwide

Local volunteers are collecting simple shoe box gifts packed by children, families, and individuals here in southeastern Kentucky. The shoe box gifts will be sorted and sent using whatever means necessary – sea containers, trucks, buses, trains, airplanes, helicopters, boats, camels, even dog sleds – to reach children around the world.

“Operation Christmas Child is doing wonderful, powerful things in the name of Jesus Christ around the world,” said Lee Adams, collection center coordinator. “We here in southeastern Kentucky are proud to be a part of this wonderful ministry. We want to make a difference one shoe box at a time.”

The local collection sites is the First Baptist Church, 170 Madison Ave., Whitesburg, KY 41858, (606) 633-2277.
