Elizabeth Fairchild enjoys visit from her son

Cowan

Our summer season is going by fast as I have said before.

Seems like I don’t have much news any more, not as many coming and going since their parents have passed away.

Some people are busy taking care of their gardens.

Several attended church at Little Cowan. We are excited about getting the Association this year. Several hundred usually attend.

Mr. John Kenton Fairchild of Lexington, enjoyed a nice visit with his mother, Elizabeth Fairchild, this weekend.

Carl Bennett and Marsha stay pretty busy with their usual routines. They come by and check on me pretty often.

Brandy Sexton is enjoying being home this summer after a busy year in college. I am sure there are many others.

We are proud of our two Cowan boys, Phillip Little for winning the boat and Donnie Adams for his accomplishments with his motorcycle racing.

Congratulations to Randy Brown who was top producer for the Prestonsburg Region of the Kentucky Lottery and came in second as salesperson in the state.

Linda Lucas, J.T. and Carol Caudill, Jill Kent and daughters Cara and Becca spent a few days at Cherokee Lake. While there they spent one day shopping in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The next day they all met Tori, Callie, and Ella Akers at the lake for a picnic. The girls all enjoyed playing and swimming.

The Cowan Homemakers met at the community center with Geneva Ison as hostess. We were happy to have Ann Bradley visit. Geneva provided us with a good lunch and a fun craft project.

Several from Cowan attended the Union meeting at Eolia Primitive Baptist Church. They heard some great preaching and enjoyed the good fellowship.

On Sunday, some went to a memorial meeting at the Cadet Church in Big Stone Gap. They had wonderful preaching and a delicious dinner.

Verna and Chester Rayburn came in for the weekend.

Verna, Linda, Carol, Anna and Doris had a pleasant Sunday afternoon visiting with each other and their Aunt Virginia on her front porch.

K.V. should answer that call to L.C.

We miss a lot of our relatives and friends who aren’t with us anymore.

Hope everyone is enjoying this nice summer weather.

Love and best wishes to all.
