Emily Rachel Pack, 85, of Gilman Bottom, W.Va., died November 6 at Hilltop, W.Va., after a sudden illness.
A daughter of the late Elbert and Laura Wampler Day, she was the widow of Joe Pack.
She was also preceded in death by four sons, an infant daughter, six brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Pack was of the Baptist faith. She and her husband moved from Letcher County to Logan County, W.Va., where they reared their family. “Mawmaw”, as she was affectionately called, worked as a cook for more than 20 years. After her retirement she enjoyed quilting, fishing, gardening and helping anyone in need.
Surviving are a son, Theodore Pack and wife Candy of Hanover, W.Va.; two daughters-in-law, Jeannie Pack Gordon and Sue Pack, who was her caregiver; two brothers, Charles Day and wife Shirley of Whitesburg; Floyd Ralph Day of Charlestown, Ind., 11 grandchildren, Charles Pack, Susan Marie Simmons, Rachel Pack, Ted Pack and wife Elizabeth, Cassandra Freeman, Emily Rose Pack, Bobby Pack and wife Becky, Kimberly Vance and husband Kenneth, Jack Garcia, Jesse Pack and wife Amy, and Austin Pack; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held November 12 at the Whitco Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in the Day Cemetery at Cowan.
Everidge Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
