Engles have visitors from Virginia

Howdy y’all, hoping this finds all well and having a fantastic summer.

Well, did you have nice weather for all picnics, cookout and family reunions over the Memorial weekend? Sure hope so.

We had company last week, most welcome I must confess, Red’s sister Mae Sowards and his niece Lena (Hampton) Stallard, both from Pound, Va.

I was absolutely worn out by bedtime last night, not that I did a lot of work. Lena cleaned my whole kitchen and it was so exhausting for me. I’m not sure how she felt. I just know that she had to take a break every now and then. The three of us went grocery shopping, another tiring day for me.

Red and I are both about the same I suppose, no better and no worse.

It’s been a fairly nice day here, not as warm (hot 80’s+) and with a cool breeze blowing.

Lena also made up a fruit salad and for supper, we had pork chops, biscuits, gravy, eggs and sliced tomatoes. My contribution was making biscuits, as I can sit and do most of that.

We had company, Bill and Redia and Catharine, and I was expecting Richard and Georgia and there will be a plenty.

I just lack a little having the baby quilt finished. I also had to let the hem down on the one and only skirt that fits. I had to buy a size two petite and I like my dresses (none to fit) to be below my knees at least. I’ve got to find some store that has longer lengths.

I talked to both of my sisters this week. I’m hoping they will be able to make it to the Engle-Sergent picnic in August. I still haven’t heard anything about the Letcher County picnic, but will let everyone know as soon as I do.

I think Red has talked to several of his family, Charles, Jean and Carleta, who is so good about calling. And since the girls have been here several of their families have called.

Hello to all the Brown family. Did everyone make it to Kentucky this summer, and is everyone well?

I have really missed seeing and talking with all at Pine Mountain Grill. Every one of you that I met were super nice.

Have a happy summer, stay well and please accept my love and prayers.

Supper is over and most of two bowls of gravy, two pans of biscuits, a bowl of scrambled eggs, plate of tomatoes and a good plate of pork loin, were mostly demolished.

We also had two extra people. Valerie and greatgrandson Alex also ate with us, and Jennifer had coffee.

I’ve got to get this finished before Catharine and Valerie decide to head home.

Y’all have a pleasant week, stay well and see you next time around.

Hello to all my Sergent and Engle families. Love you.
