A 27-year-old Eolia man is accused of robbing two convenience stores in Virginia.

Money, cigarettes and other merchandise were stolen on Sept. 16 from the State Line Food Mart and Double Kwik, both located in Pound, Va.

Lt. Brian Damron of the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Department said Jonathan Dean Adams brandished a weapon and took items from both stores. Some of the items have been recovered, said Damron.

Adams has been charged with two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony and two counts of grand larceny, according to a press release from the Wise County Sheriff ’s Department.

Adams was arrested Sept. 17 in Letcher County by the Kentucky State Police and charged with fourthdegree assault in an unrelated case.

The Wise County Sheriff ’s Department received a telephone call from a concerned citizen on Sept. 18 that led to charges against Adams in connection with the armed robberies, said the Wise County release.

Adams remains held without bail in the Letcher County Jail while awaiting extradition to Wise County.

Damron said Adams’s clothing was taken after a search warrant was obtained and executed at the jail.

KSP Trooper Donnie White and Letcher Sheriff ’s Deputy Matt Gayheart also assisted the Wise County Sheriff ’s Department in the investigation.
