Eolia Park is site of reunions

Greetings to all from the Eolia Christian Community Outreach Center.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:10

The Labor Day weekend at the Eolia Community Park was overflowing with reunions. The weather was made to order for a glorious fall day beginning with a brisk cool morning and developing later into sunny blue skies. One event was the Sturgill family reunion, which was their second one held at Eolia. There is one remaining aunt, Grace, living in Michigan and she attended. Naomi Sturgill Morris had five brothers, now deceased, but all their children were there.

In all, 55 people attended the reunion and a happy one it was as some of them hadn’t seen family members in 35 or 40 years. Everyone enjoyed hot dogs, barbecue, and all the fixings. Time was spent reminiscing and enjoying precious memories of those gone to be with the Lord, especially their much beloved Aunt Mabel who passed this year. They said they miss her very much.

Pastor John Collins, a cousin, was there and said grace over the meal. They say plans are to have the reunion again next year, Lord willing. Pictures are available on Facebook. Go to Sturgill Reunion.

Another event held at the Eolia Community Park was the Whitesburg High School Class of 1990 reunion.

The months of October and November will be a busy time for ECCO. Several out-of-town friends will be coming to our annual Thanksgiving dinner and to help with our many projects. We look forward to seeing everyone and enjoying a time of fellowship.

With that said, I’ll leave you with this thought for the day. You are never so high as when you are on your knees.
