Last week the Ermine senior citizens sure had a wonderful week.

Tuesday, we went to Letcher County Central High School to see “The Wizard of Oz”. Those students were really good. They put on a perfect play as good as the original one. To all you students, we were really proud of you. You are stars.

Wednesday, we had our pizza party we had won by turning in the most money of all the senior citizens centers for Relay for Life. I didn’t get the number of how many people we had, but we had a house full. Teresa Meade from Community Trust Bank came and brought us a beautiful cake, congratulating us on the win.

Jim Craft, Debbie Slone (our site manager), Teresa Meade and Coleene Hart served the pizzas. We had a great time. We also played Bingo after eating.

Thursday, we just discussed the events of the week and got ready for the prom.

Friday, we had our prom at the Shriners building. We had 32 of our seniors to go, plus our four workers and our little girl from Indiana, Kyleigha. We had a large crowd; the building was full. All seven centers were there.

Photographers were there taking pictures, also a man (didn’t get his name) that interviewed us. He asked us different questions about ourselves and our families. He took our pictures and we are on television.

Lennon and Yvonne Hammock from our center won king and queen. Ed Pike got Letcher County king and Debbie Miranda got county queen.

The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The workers did a great job doing the decorating of the building. It was beautiful.

Thanks to LCCHS for giving us their decorations. We really appreciate them doing this for us. We would also like to thank all the workers that helped with our prom. We know they worked hard to put this on for us and we really do appreciate all of you. And thanks to Jim Ward for his part in our prom also.

Our prom was surely a success. We all had a great day and a good time. We are looking toward the one we’ll have next year.

This week will be a very slow week as we don’t have anything planned so far, but we will.

Take care everyone, and God bless until next time.
