Ermine seniors are on the move

The Ermine senior citizens are on the move again. We went to Hazard to a bluegrass and gospel singing and picnic. We had a wonderful day with great food and wonderful singing.

Letcher County’s own Fred Young sang some beautiful songs. He goes to the Boone Fork Center but has been to our center and sang for us.

We had a great time coming back. We stopped at Yoder’s, and also at Isom at the Dairy Bar. We always have to stop there for ice cream. Coleen said she gained a pound, and that it was my fault for wanting to stop. But I’ll bet it was the big chocolate chip cookie she ate.

Thursday all the centers were closed because the workers were in training at our center for a CPR class. I heard they all passed the test. Congratulations to all you ladies at Ermine.

Nurses from Mountain Comp recently came to our center about Breast Cancer Awareness Week. They will come on what is also our Bingo day.

We will be going to Boone Fork Center on Friday, Sept. 18, for a Western hoedown. So come on you seniors and put on your bibbed overalls, flannel shirts, and cowboy hats, and don’t forget your cowboy boots. If we don’t have boots, I guess they’ll let us in barefooted. We’ll have to ask their site manager, but she’s a good person, and I think she will. Don’t you?

Sept. 23 is Whitesburg Day, and we will be going there. So I guess that will take care of September for us.

Now we will have to start planning what to do in October. Halloween will be one of the events. Maybe we will get to go on a trip. I hope so.

Joe and Doris Bentley have gone to Germany for a vacation. We sure will miss them.

I’m glad that Don and Nancy Fultz are back. They’ve been gone again. They took their great-granddaughter to her other grandmother’s to spend about a month. Then, I think, she’ll be back with the Fultzes for awhile.

Don’t forget the hoedown at the Boone Fork Center. All you young senior citizens be there and join in the fun.

God bless until next time.
