Ethel Day dies at 97

ETHEL HAYNES DAY

Ethel Haynes Day, 97, died January 6.

She was a daughter of the late John Haynes and Mary Elizabeth Hart Haynes, formerly of Letcher County.

Mrs. Day was a floral designer for Messenger Florist in Whitesburg for many years. Upon the death of her husband, Whitesburg Fire Chief Remious Day, she moved to Fayette County where she was a floral designer in Lexington for many years.

She was a member of Brookside Baptist Church in Nicholasville, and an Eastern Star member.

Mrs. Day was the mother of the late Remious “Reno” Day, Jr., and a grandmother of the late Amanda Elizabeth Ellis.

Surviving are a daughter, Lorraine Day Ellis and husband Larry of Nicholasville; a son, Raymond Lee Day and wife Regina of Lexington; a daughter-inlaw, Bernice Morgan Day of Wilmore; a granddaughter, Lori Dawn Ellis of Nicholasville; a grandson, James Patrick Day of Wilmore; a great-granddaughter and two great-great-grandsons; and a sister, Irene Haynes Addington of Craft’s Colly.
