Every day should be Thanksgiving

Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing well.

It’s good to see these warm days we’ve been having. The nights are cold, but it is November.

Thanksgiving is coming up soon. I love Thanksgiving. Seems like anymore it’s being forgotten. We go out of Halloween into Christmas. I still think every day should be Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for. Whitesburg

We have had so many funerals close together. We had Eddie Haynes, Sherry (Hatton) Fields, and now everyone’s friend, Tena Belle Adams of Craft’s Colly. She was the daughter of the late John Adams and Geneva Adams. Her funeral was Sunday. She was the sister of Wanda Tolliver and Linda Hatton, my daughter-inlaw.

There was a large crowd at the funeral home. The preachers did real well, Bro. Rhuford Hart and Bro. Bill Craft. The singers were Willie Perry and wife and Sara Hatton. Her son (my great-grandson) Beau Hatton played piano. I know a grandmother who was awful proud, in fact three — Linda Hatton, Geneva Adams and myself. The singing was beautiful.

It was good seeing Janice Foster there. I don’t get to see her much. She is always at the funerals like the Pennington sisters, Dorothy, Pearl and Linda. It was good seeing Codell Gibson, a Marlowe boy. Too many people to mention but I was glad to see them all.

Has anyone out there lost a beautiful little bright yellow, long-haired kitten with big beautiful green eyes? It’s healthy and fat and is litter box trained. It needs a home. I have too many cats now. If it’s yours or you want it, call me at 633-7120. Please, before I get too attached to it! You need to see how pretty it is. It was in Westwood and hungry.

I got a nice surprise this morning from my niece Betty Lou Hall, wife of James ‘Podge’ Hall. I hadn’t heard from her in years. James is the son of the late Sophia and Henry Hall of Marlowe. Betty is the daughter of the late Clara Hatton Spears. They get The Eagle and they read about Sherry Hatton Fields’s death. They were cousins.

I found out today some folks don’t want their names in the paper. I try not to offend anyone. If you don’t want your name in the paper, feel free to tell me.

May God bless all of you. Try to be in church this week if you can.
