Former Charlie Daniels Band guitarist Tommy Crain has died. Crain, 59, died in Nashville on January 13.
Crain joined the Charlie Daniels Band in 1974, after Daniels spotted him playing in the Flat Creek Band, which opened for the CDB at the first Volunteer Jam in Nashville.
Crain went on to play on more than 20 albums with Daniels before retiring from the band in 1989. Among 60 songs he co-wrote with Daniels was “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy Award in 1979.
