Ex-inspector faces pill charge

A Whitesburg man was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with drug trafficking.

Robert Anthony Sturgill, 45, of 111 Coolie Baker Road, was arrested May 1 and charged with seconddegree trafficking in a controlled substance.

According to court documents, Sturgill is accused of selling 85 Hydrocodone pills, a schedule III narcotic, to an undercover Kentucky State Police detective on July 6, 2011. The transaction was recorded by both audio and video.

Sturgill is a former mine inspector.

The investigation was conducted by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (H.I.D.T.A.) task force and the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Department.
