LEXINGTON
Lexington police say a former University of Kentucky basketball player has been charged in connection to a scam to sell fake season tickets.
According to a police statement, Derrick G. Miller is charged with one felony count of theft by deception for allegedly selling season tickets that weren’t available for him to sell.
The 42-year-old Miller, who played for the Wildcats from 1986 through 1990, is the second former Kentucky player in a week to be hit with similar charges. Edward Davender was charged last week with three felony counts of theft by deception and one count of trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school.
Lexington police spokesman Lt. Douglas Pape says they were not related.
Messages left at Lexington telephone listings matching Miller’s name were not returned Tuesday. Pape says it’s uncertain whether Miller has an attorney.
