Fall Fling to feature pipes, drums

The Appalachian Highlanders Pipes and Drums will be featured performers at the Wise County (Va.) Fall Fling. The group, based in Abingdon, Va., presents the sounds of the Highland bagpipe. thThe VFW will open the 35 annual Fall Fling Saturday, Oct. 12, at 9 a.m. followed by Angel Mefford at 9:30. At 10 a.m., Kelsey Copeland will take the stage followed by the Center Stage Cloggers.

At 11 a.m., the Bluegrass Circle will perform, and from 11:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. King’s Messengers will play Southern gospel music.

Next up is Wolf Creek Grass and at 1:15 p.m. the Bluegrass Kinsmen with Fiddling Billy Baker and the Virginia Sweethearts along with the Virginia Sweethearts.

Following will be Raisin Cane from 2-3 p.m., the White Top Mountain Band at 3.

From 4-5 p.m., Town Branch Bluegrass Band will play followed by Benny Jones and CMT Country.

Sunday’s music lineup begins at noon with Jimmy Mullins and the Biscuit Burners then the Appalachian Highlanders Pipes and Drums at 12:45 p.m.

The Dennis Cove Band, South Mountain Bluegrass Boys, Appalachian Strings, will play at 1:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m., and 3:45 p.m., respectively.

At 4:45 p.m., performing will be Kody Norris and the Watauga Mountain Boys followed by The Principles, Gospel at 5:45 p.m.
