Fall leaves are welcome sign

Such beautiful weather, and the colors of fall leaves have been a welcome sign of the fall weather. It really is a nice time of the year.

Congratulations to Aaron and Becky Blair of Burton Hill, who have a new baby boy. I hope Walker enjoys having a little brother.

Rodney, Geraldine, Ronald and Susan Ison and Wendell, Doreen, Doug Calhoun and his wife, and Linda Day all drove over to Pikeville First Baptist Church last Sunday for the baptism of Corey and Tonya Chalters Ison. They were so happy for them, and so are we.

Roy Kenon and Billie Jean Smith of Ohio, came in to visit with Lee and Wilma Pridemore for a few days. Don and Coreen went up and stayed awhile with them too. Billie had twisted her knee and was having problems walking. Roy Kenon checked on Lillie Moss Hale, Mary Jo Blair and Tommy Harris Smith while here. Jeremiah

A baby shower was held for Gary and Becky Pridemore’s daughter, Christy, and her husband, and I’m sorry to say Mom and I forgot. Hopefully they got many nice and useful items for the baby.

A first birthday party was held for Jason and Brook Ison’s little boy Evan Eugene last Saturday. It was held at Martin Joe and Bonnie Adams’s home, and many sets of grandparents and other kinfolk were there for the special day.

A few neighbors who haven’t been felling well are: Terry Caudill, Roland Brown, Hargis Ison, Danny ‘Hoot’ Campbell, Hester Back and Onis Barnett. We hope all are feeling better by this time.

Ray Dean and Doris Adams’s son, Jason, is finishing up his treatment and doing pretty well.

Vergle Caudill is recuperating from his recent fall, which broke some bones in his leg.

Also, get well wishes to Brice and Joanne Baker, who are both getting over broken bones from separate accidents. Connie Blair has been helping them out.

There’s a new consignment shop opened up at the mouth of Spring Branch in Tommy Harris Smith’s rental building. Reports are that it is clean and neat, and has many nice items. It think it’s called ‘Jaden’s Consignment Shop.’ It’s near Letcher Fire and Rescue.

Ellis and Ila Adams had Merle and Eolia Caudill visiting them over the weekend. It was church time at the old Doty Creek Church, and they came to attend and visit.

Curt and Chelsea Adams’s son, Brayden, celebrated his first birthday with a hayride birthday party at their new home on Blair Branch. We wish him a belated happy birthday. Sorry, I may have misspelled his name.

This weekend, Saturday, will be the George M. and Sally Banks family reunion at the Stuart Robinson Dining Hall, beginning at 11 a.m. All are welcome. It will also be meeting time at Blair Branch Church Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Please come by and you’ll be made welcome.

Lance Breeding and Kick Adams were among those helping Bill Halcomb and his kinfolk making molasses on Turkey Creek recently.

This Saturday, Oct. 15, will be Blackey Day. Don’t forget to go by and check out the local talents and see old friends.
