Family gathers for baptism

Northeast Ohio

Howdy, I hope this finds everyone well and had a bang up Fourth of July.

Red and I did nothing except enjoy a lazy but hot day. Didn’t even buy a watermelon. Our street was fairly quiet except for fireworks starting in afternoon until almost time to get out of bed. Red says he’s still sleepy.

Got some good news to share with you. On Sunday, July 1, I joined the church at Little Edna and this Sunday, July 8, I will be baptized at Pleasant View Church after services. It’s their church time. I gave my heart and soul to the Lord several years ago and many times I would hold onto the back of the seat in front of me to keep from walking down the aisle even though it was what I wanted to do. I’m sure there are some who can relate. I finally realized it was my time and I couldn’t be happier. I ask now that you keep me in your prayers. This is a new experience for me and I need all the prayers and support I can get.

Niece Lena Hampton, Pound, Va., called earlier, said she and niece Carleta Adams, Eolia, would be arriving sometime Saturday afternoon. Both wanted to be here. I called sister Anna Lea Goins, Whitesburg, and she said she would have been right here but had broken a bone in her right foot, is in a boot and not allowed to drive. She and son Ronny and wife Tiffany with their three children, twins Luke and Allie and Kelsey, will be leaving Monday for a vacation in New Orleans. Wishing them a great time and hopefully the foot won’t give her too much trouble.

I talk to Jeanie pretty often. Sometimes she has a good week and sometimes not so.

Tuesday we had one of the worst rainstorms I can remember for some time. Winds, rain coming down in sheets (looked like snow), loud thunder and lightning. At one time it turned so dark, it looked like nighttime. Right now the wind is kicking up really bad and sky is beginning to darken. Hope it isn’t a repeat of Tuesday.

Haven’t heard from Richard and Georgia today. Georgia had an appointment in Cleveland today at the clinic, and had to leave pretty early this morning.

Finally talked to Bill and he was busy, but he will be driving us to the retina specialist in the morning. Red has an appointment at 10:15 to have another shot in his eye. That has got to be really painful and he can’t see anything for two or three days.

Charles called Red this afternoon, and he and Delores will be here this weekend also. Said they wanted to be here for me and I love them all very much for feeling that way.

Better get this finished soon. Sometimes Catharine is here before I add the last dot.

Wishing all a fantastic week with less heat and no big, bad storms. Until next time, love and prayers to all.
