Lizzie Mae Wright spent Christmas holidays in Alabama with her daughter, Janet Albright, and son and wife, Darius and Sheila Wright, and all their families.
Saturday, Dec. 21, Janet and her grandson, Richard Swagert, were taking her out to a restaurant, but when they got there, she had the biggest shock of her life.
Darius and Sheila had her a surprise 90th birthday party at J.W. Steakhouse in Decatur, Ala., also a birthday cake and the room was decorated so beautifully.
Most of all, my whole family was here, even my nephew Roger Bentley, and wife Diana were there from Louisville, whom I hadn’t seen in 19 years, and we had food of every kind.
What a blessing this was for me the first time I had my whole family together.
This is the writing my son, Darius Wright, wrote and read to me:
“Mom’s 90th Birthday
“Mom, it’s an honor to celebrate your 90th birthday, may you only know the joy, peace and health that comes with a life well lived. Sending you birthday wishes filled with happiness, brightened by rainbows, and warmed by love. Thank you for holding us together throughout our lives, thank you for giving a true meaning to our lives. You have taught us the most important things that cannot be bought. Your body may be 90 years old, but your soul is still 18, just with 72 years of experience. We are celebrating your upcoming 90th birthday, which is a milestone that many may never know. We’re celebrating your life and times, and all the things you love so with photos, memories, and most important, your family that is here to celebrate with you. After all, none of this would have been possible without you.
“Happy birthday, and pray for many, many more. I love you dearly, Mom.”
