Preventing family violence will be the focus of discussion during a conference on family violence on Thursday, April 8, at the Hazard Community and Technical College First Federal Center; Room 123A.
Guest speakers include Nicole Pang and Terri Jacobs from the Attorney General’s office, Dr. Baretta Casey from the University of Kentucky Center for Rural Health, and Marissa Castellanos from Catholic Charities of Louisville. Topics will include “MySpace Page Safety,” “Family Violence and the Law,” and “Human Trafficking: A Hidden Crime.” Registration begins at 9 a.m. and includes lunch. The last session ends at 2:15 p.m.Th
e conference is geared towards nurses, teachers, social workers, counselors, students, and other professionals who are interested in stopping abuse.
The fee is $15 and includes lunch. The deadline for registration is Thursday, April 1. Continuing education units will be awarded. Displays by agencies that treat violence victims will be available. A silent auction will also be part of the event.
