February comes to end with snowfall

Cowan

Hello everyone – I hope all are doing fine and dandy. February chose to end with snow for Cowan as we received two plus inches. I don’t think any of the blooming flowers were hurt with the snow. I have had pretty crocus blooming. I hope March is off to a good start for you.

We started March by going on another adventure. We made it to Niceville, Florida for a few days. Our friends, Gerry and Cherie Freisthler, invited us down and we went. We’re planning on a good time.

We took a detour in Chattanooga, Tenn. We ended up driving through the town and that city is beautiful. I loved the riverwalk area downtown. It looked like a good city to live and work in.

We stopped at a McDonald’s somewhere in Tennessee. As we were standing in a line, I saw and heard the manager tell a young man to sit at a booth and she would be right with him. The young man had his baseball cap on backwards and he was there for an interview. The manager had to do something else so he was just sitting there. I overstepped the bounds and walked over to him. I told him if he had an interview, he should take his hat off. He did and thanked me. His hair was long and crazy. I told him to smooth it back and so did another lady there. As we were leaving I told him ‘Good luck’. He was still waiting on the manager and I hope he got the job. He was a polite young man and had a nice voice to go with his manners.

I had a phone call from my aunt, Susan Stamper of Lexington. It was great hearing from her. I’m ordering plants from the Letcher County Extension Office and she wanted some also.

Delores Tackett Holbrook had open-heart surgery last week. She is doing wonderful with her recuperation.

The Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church will have a revival starting on Sunday. Sunday’s service will start at 6 p.m. and the rest of the week will start at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend and to bring a friend.

The birthdays for March are as follows: March 1 – Micca Watts Gordon March 2 – Kae Fisher March 3 – Gwen Banks Handlon, Joe Stamper March 7 – Kendra Wenning Snyder, Rose Roberts March 10 – Brad Dutton, Abigail Ferris March 16 – Earl Rich, Jr. March 17 – Rheatta Campbell March 18 – Kelly Robinson March 19 – Lena Caudill Brashears March 23 – Barbara Campbell March 25 – Belinda Watkins, Shannon Banks March 26 – Mashawna Gilley Caudill, Michael Watts March 30 – Christal Brown March 31 – Bernard Rayburn

This week’s positive quote is attributed to Billy Joel: “I am no longer afraid of becoming lost, because the journey back always reveals something new, and that is ultimately good for the artist.”
