A 79-year-old Perry County man who was the first reported case of Covid-19 in the area, died today of complications from the disease.
The Kentucky River District Health Department reported the death.
“We at the KRDHD extend out deepest sympathy to his loved during this time of loss,” District Health Director Scott Lockard said. “As Covid-19 continues to spread in our area, we must all do what we can to keep each other safe.”
The man first tested positive on March 31, the first case reported in the Kentucky River Health District.
Perry County cases are at 45 now, including the one death. Letcher County cases are still at 12. Leslie County has 7, Knott has 4, Owsley has 2, and Lee and Wolfe each have 1 case.
In other surrounding counties, Pike County has 53 total cases with 16 still active and Harlan County has 15 cases. Wise County, Va., has 27 cases, and the City of Norton has 2.
