First baby of 2014

At 10:45 a.m. on January 1, Dr. Jessica Branham delivered Adysen Jayde Davis. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 2.6 ounces, and was 18.3 inches long. Her parents are David and Kayla Davis of Busy.

The hospital gave Adysen, the first baby born at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital in 2014, and her family a large, baby bathtub full of items every baby needs including a baby monitor.

Whitesburg ARH Hospital offers private labor-delivery recovery rooms with private baths in a home-like atmosphere where the focus is on a family-centered birthing experience. Once the baby is born, the hospi- tal offers rooming in for parents and baby to enhance newborn teaching with a newborn nursery nurse available and dedicated to this service 24 hours a day.

ARH OB-GYN physician Wade Baker, MD; Jessica Branham, DO; Lenny Hadley, MD; Isabella Nyan, MD; Crystal Gibson, PA; Carrie Hall, Nurse Midwife; Jennifer Herrell, Nurse Midwife; Ann Moore, Nurse Midwife; Melissa Newell, Nurse Midwife, and OB nursing staff provide care for mothers and babies. Whitesburg ARH also offers a nursery with a state-of-the-art security system.

In 2013, 440 babies were delivered at Whitesburg ARH Hospital.
