Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the weather and watching the flowers beginning to bloom. I love this time of year. I go out every day to see how they are coming along.
Late happy birthday to Bruce Gilley on April 1 and my brother Hillard Howard in Florida had his on April 2. We all try to call him every year. He was having a good day. He had his grandchildren there.
I enjoyed Bible study on Wednesday. There were 14 of us there. I always take my little friend Minerva Griffin with me.
It was good seeing my friend Shelby Feltner on the Beattyville station with the group she sings with, Heaven’s Jubilee. It was real good. They are a good group, all of them.
It was good seeing R.C. Day and his friends at Dairy Queen. He says he reads my news and keeps up with a lot of his friends. I try to “tell it like it is.” (That’s what my brother Eddie Howard always said. I still miss him so bad!)
It was so good hearing from Vickie (Hatton) Underwood in Ohio, the pretty Easter card and the pictures of her and my sister Joann Brown. They hadn’t seen each other in 48 years. They met at the funeral of Larry Van Hatton in Indiana. They were both overjoyed. Vickie and her husband always come to all the Hatton reunions and I’m always glad to see her. She’s one of our Marlowe girls.
My great-grandson is back home. Beau Hatton has been in New York on his senior trip and has had the time of his life. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him. I think he slept all day yesterday resting up. I’m looking forward to seeing all his pictures. He loves to take pictures and he’s really good at it.
My sister Betty Tyree came out for a visit. We love sitting out on the deck. It was a nice, warm day.
I talked with my son Rob this morning. He was happy to have his daughter Rocki and her husband Matt Hill and their children Elise and Daniel for the weekend. It rained on Friday and they didn’t get out much, but Easter is supposed to be nice and I’m sure they will have a good time. They always do.
Our church is having sunrise service and an Easter egg hunt for the children and church, so it will be a good day.
We still have a lot of sick folks and need prayer, Sonia Fields, Bro. Earnest Brock and wife Kathleen, and Thomas Absher, the boy who had a bad car wreck and is still in the hospital and not doing very well.
I talked with my good friend Dorthy Tacket today to see what she had been doing. She was doing like me, staying in because of the weather. Her sister Linda Hall is still having trouble with her foot, but is doing better. I’m glad of that.
I hope everyone will have a good Easter and remember the reason for it. I’m planning on going to Easter sunrise service and church and afterward I’m invited to go to Maggie Cook’s for lunch. We will share our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will surely enjoy that. I’ve always liked Maggie and her family. I hope the weather will be good.
I talked to my sister Louise Shepherd. She was at Pine Mountain Grill with her daughter Carol Day and her granddaughter Destini. I’m sure they enjoyed being together.
My four sons are all getting ready to go to the races at Bristol. They really look forward to it. They have been going for a lot of years, I don’t know how many. I’m glad they are close brothers.
May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere this week if you are able.
