Sheriff ’s deputies arrested a man and woman Tuesday after a foot chase with the man near Little Colley.
Sheriff Mickey Stines said his department had received tips about heavy traffic going to and from a residence on Midland Drive, and when they checked court records they found pending warrants on two people at that address for failure to appear in court.
When he and Deputies Cory Harris and James Norris arrived, Stines said one man ran away, but officers caught him nearby. Stines said he asked permission to search the house, and the homeowner gave them permission. He said deputies found a small packet of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Officers charged Steve Collins, 40, of 540 Midland Drive, with possession of a controlled substance, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They also served a warrant on him for failure to appear.
They arrested Alesia Collins, 56, of the same address, on two warrants for failure to appear.
They also served two criminal summonses on Katrina Collins, also of that address.
Stines said he is grateful to citizens of the area who called in the tips, which allowed officers to find and serve the warrants and make the arrests.
