Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well. I’m enjoying this nice weather.
You won’t believe it, but I have a forsythia bush in bloom. It’s under an apple tree. It probably won’t last long, but it’s pretty now.
I’ve just heard that my cousin Dorthy Miles and her husband are both not doing well. I think Glen is in the hospital.
So many in my family are not doing well. Please pray for all of them.
My daughter- in- law, Sandra Hatton, is having surgery at UK Hospital on Friday. I’m planning on going down and I’ll get to spend some time with my son Astor ‘Red’ and his wife Rosemary.
Please keep Sandra in your prayers. She and Billy went to their lake house until Thursday, and then they went for her surgery. She said she was feeling good before the surgery.
I enjoyed talking with Bessie Hamilton the other day. I love keeping in touch with all my friends, and try to keep up with all of them I can.
Our church had a turkey dinner on Friday, and I was sorry to miss it. They are such good cooks and give great big servings, enough for two people.
Our sympathy goes out to Bro. Enfusse and his family. They lost a family member, his sister-in-law of Virginia. Donald is one of our preachers and a great Sunday School teacher, also.
We are proud of our teachers and preachers. They are good friends to all of us.
I talked to my son Astor ‘Red’ recently. He’s retired and loves to cook. He tells me what he’s cooking and almost starves me to death.
I’m about ashamed to cook for him. Is it right for a son to be a better cook than his Mom? I sure enjoy it when I go to Georgetown. He didn’t learn it from me. He loved cooking when he was a young boy.
Bro. Jamie Niece preached for us last Tuesday night, and he did outstanding. Our young preachers in our church are really going out and doing a good work.
I knew him when he was a baby, and we all appreciate him and also Bro. Caleb Howard. They go everywhere, even to Hawaii, and we are glad they come back to us.
We enjoyed having Bro. Billy Conn preach for us at our church on Tuesday night. We had a packed out house and some good preaching.
We all love Bro. Billy. He’s our pastor’s brother. We’ve known Bro. Billy and Bro. John Conn about all of their lives. They feel like family.
I talk about my church a lot. I love my church and all the people are my friends.
I’m writing this early as I was going to be leaving on Friday to be there for my daughter-in-law, Sandra Hatton’s surgery.
I was sorry to hear that Bruce Gilley had chest pains and had to be in ICU for a few days. I’m so glad he’s better now.
I read the Blackey News to keep up with my Blackey friends. Bruce says he reads my news and the Blackey news first. I hope you stay better, Bruce!
We had a beautiful day last Thursday. We’d better enjoy them, for winter is coming. I hope it is a mild one.
Late happy birthday to Jennifer (Noble) Holbrook. She is the daughter of Pearl (Pennington) Noble and Charles Noble. They were both Marlowe kids. I’m not sure where Jennifer lives. I guess her husband is still in the service and she’s with him.
I hope Linda (Pennington) Hall’s foot is feeling better. She likes to be up and going. I know it’s hard with a broken ankle, but she won’t let it keep her down for long.
I tried to call her sister, Dorthy Tacket, but couldn’t get her. I hope Charlene Mason is feeling better.
I’ve had to write my news in installments this week. I’ve had to be gone most of the week.
My brother John Howard and my sister Judy Greene are in Florida visiting our brother, Hillard Howard, and wife Marsha. I’m sure they are enjoying being together.
I wish none of them had to move away, but there’s a bunch of us still here.
May God bless all of you, try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
