Free appraisal day April 25

Item more than 50 years old can be appraised without charge at The Clapboard House/Appalachian Showcase, Main Street, Wise, Va., on April 25, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Denward “Deano” Johnson and Milton Ellison will do the appraisals.

Johnson specializes in the appraisal of antique furniture (over 100 years old), R.S. Prussian, R.S. Germany, Roseville, Hull, Westmorland, Northwood, Millersburg, and other pieces of porcelain and glassware, and also has extensive knowledge about books, toys, and dolls. Ellison deals with coins, scrip, merchant tokens, mining artifacts, bottles from local towns, advertising items, signs, thermometers, clocks, and local historical pieces. Those wishing to have a free appraisal can bring up to three items, or pictures of larger items. Additional items can be appraised if time permits.

There will also be refreshments and door prizes.
