Free smoke alarms are available to residents of Whitesburg from the Whitesburg Fire Department in cooperation with the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center. The alarms will also be installed at no charge.
Families with children and elderly members have first priority to receive the alarms. Call the fire department at 633-2203 to schedule an appointment.
The smoke alarm project is sponsored with fund from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s U.S. Fire Administration, which is an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
