Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well and getting ready for the holidays.
I’m surprised to be writing. I told Mountain Eagle I wouldn’t be writing this week because of our Christmas party, but I got this nice Christmas card from someone I had never met.
I didn’t know her and she didn’t know me, but she said she had read my news for many years and she felt like sending me a card. She said the late Pelma Dixon was her sister, and the late Dennis Dixon.
I want to let her know they were my good friends and Dennis was my secondgrade teacher at Carcassonne School, and I kept in touch with them until their deaths. I visited him when he was in Letcher Manor Nursing Home and met their son, Charles Dixon, and bought his book. It was a history of the Dixons.
She did not put her address on my card so I couldn’t send her one back. Her name is Glenora Eldridge, and her maiden name was Bryant. That’s why I’m writing all this. I’d like to hear from her again. She was raised in Johnson Fork and Hot Spot.
I want her to know that she made my day! I know I’m rattling on, so I’ll stop and change to something else.
I’m really looking forward to our Howard Christmas party. I hope the weather stays good. We are expecting a lot of family and friends there.
I think about all my family will be there. A lot of my family are having health problems. I hope they will be feeling better by then.
We had a real good service at our church last Tuesday night, Dec. 15. Bro. Billy Adkins preached so good, and that Sunday night Bro. Jamie Niece preached real good as usual.
We all love Jamie and his family. I’ve known him all his life, and knew his parents, Carfa Niece and his late wife Shirley, before they were married. Everyone loved them!
It was good seeing my sister Roth Dollarhide and some of her family at church.
My brother John Howard called me. He was on his way home for our party. Our family is scattered all over the place, but most of them stayed close and we can visit or call all of them and keep in touch.
I was sorry I didn’t get a chance to get to the funeral of Eula Ve Joseph. She had been in bad health for a long time. Our sympathy goes out to all her family.
I’m getting excited about getting to see all of our family at our Christmas party. I’m having to write a little early. I’m writing on Friday, and haven’t had a chance to see many people. Maybe I’ll have a lot to write about next week.
I haven’t heard from a lot of my friends. A lot of them are having health problems, and I’ll try to get in touch with them.
My friends Dorthy Tacket and her sister Pearl Noble haven’t been able to get to the rec center in awhile, and I know the people miss them. I think Pearl made coffee for all of them.
I just got word that Paul Fields had died. He was a son of Geraldine and Charlie Fields. I don’t know what the arrangements are. I’ll try to find out and my sympathy goes out to his mother and the rest of the family.
I was glad to hear from Elzie Ray Hatton and his wife Irene. I hope they are doing all right. They were so sad that their dog, Bubba, had passed away. They had him 10½ years and he was their baby.
Well, I had better get up and get going. May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
