People eager to help the families of 29 men killed in the Upper Big Branch Mine explosion have at least four ways to act.
West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins and student leader Jason Parsons have created the Upper Big Branch Family Fund to provide scholarships for the miners’ children.
Huggins delivered pasta and Mountaineer T-shirts to the families last week in Montcoal.
Through April 24, Kroger customers can donate at 128 Mid-Atlantic stores, including those in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, eastern Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. The Salvation Army will distribute the funds.
The West Virginia Council of Churches is also collecting cash, while Appalachian Bible College in Bradley is accepting non-monetary gifts.
