Fund-raiser a success

The fall fund-raiser held by the Old Jenkins High School Renovation Committee was declared “a complete success” by committee members. The dinner and auction held Oct. 12 was attended by 70 people, including State Rep. Leslie Combs, District 5 Magistrate Wayne Fleming, and Jenkins Mayor D. Charles Dixon.

Money raised at the event will be used to continue renovation on the Old Jenkins High School project. An elevator shaft and new restrooms are now being built at the site, and an elevator has been ordered. Plumbing and electrical work is also being completed. The public is invited to tour the building. For more information or to schedule a tour, contact Jim Polly at 832-9001.
