Funds raised for students with cancer

The Student Government Association at Letcher County Central High School is organizing a fund-raiser to benefit three LCCHS students battling cancer. All donations will be divided equally and given to Travis Morton, Phillip McCray and Jake Raleigh.

“To do something special for them this Christmas season, we wanted to give them a monetary donation and show them our support,” said Cassity Riff e, LCCHS student body president.

The group is selling paper stars, ornaments and snowmen for $1 each.

“You can buy these in honor of, in memory of, or just put your own name or phrase on them,” said Riff e.

The holiday papers will be taped around a Christmas tree in the front lobby of the high school.

“This is so important to us because we really want these students to see how much their classmates care,” said Riff e. “I’m really hoping this will be very successful.”
