A Whitesburg woman died Saturday after her SUV plunged over a hillside near Neon.
Karen Hall, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly before 9 a.m.
Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call reporting a single vehicle accident on KY 317 at Neon at 8:51 a.m. on November 28, according to Trooper Matt Gayheart, public information officer for the post.
The initial investigation indicated that Hall was driving a black 2003 Ford Explorer when she failed to negotiate a curve. She left the roadway and came to rest over an embankment. The Letcher County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and pronounced Hall dead.
She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck. Toxicology reports are pending. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Leo Slone.
A private funeral service will be held on Thursday at Polly and Craft Funeral Home in Neon. No other obituary information was available.
