Charles Ernest Banks, 86, died January 9 at Letcher Manor Nursing Home in Whitesburg.
Born in Ice, a son of the late James and Ida Stallard Banks, he was also known as Charlie or Choppy.
Mr. Banks was also preceded in death by nine siblings, Clay Banks, Elsie Aouate, James Banks, Elizabeth
Bolling, Rosa Tyree, Billy Kay Banks, Jackson Banks, and infants Melissa Banks and Chalice Banks.
He enjoyed farming and gardening, and people were known to travel long distances to buy his produce and plants.
He also enjoyed woodworking and sketching, and caring for animals.
Surviving are a sister, Josephine Banks; nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children; a cousin who helped care for him, Doris Banks; and a caregiver, Kathy Niece.
Funeral services for Mr. Banks were held January 14 at Everidge Funeral Home in Whitesburg. Burial was in Bony Banks Cemetery at UZ.
