Funeral services for Emitt Everidge, 95, of Colson, will be held at noon on Thursday, October 24, at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Green Acres Memorial Park at Ermine.
A son of the late Ezra and Ella Pigman Everidge, he was born at Colson. He died October 21 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Mr. Everidge had been in the coal business for 40 years. He and his son, Larry, started Everidge Funeral Home in 1986.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
Surviving are his wife of 74 years, Juanita Adams
Everidge; a son, Larry Everidge and wife Ute of Whitesburg; two sisters, Samantha Hall of Colson, and Wilma Preece of Hindman; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brian, Tyrone, Sarah, Stefanie, and Jennifer; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dustin, Jared, Sierra, Julia, Landyn, Madison, Noah, Lucas, Joshua, and Bennett; a great-great-grandson, Wyatt ; and three special friends and caregivers, Oma, Mindy and Carolena.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Everidge was preceded in death by a son, Dewayne Everidge; a grandson, Kevin Lane Everidge; four sisters, Gladys Holbrook, Polly Ann Gibson, Dicie Jena, and Nella Williams; and a brother, L.B. Everidge.
